Description

Audrey Carlan has created a gem of a story about sisterhood, love, and second chances.” —Lexi Ryan on What the Heart Wants

A heartwarming, wry and deeply emotional story of the power of sisterhood, trusting your heart and finding forever.

“Think big. Live out loud.”

When their mother passed away a decade ago, Evie Ross and her sister, Suda Kaye, were each left a stack of letters, one to be opened every year on their birthday. While the letters encouraged Suda Kaye’s wanderlust, taking her away from Evie for years, their free-spirited mother’s wish for her more cautious daughter was to discover what her heart truly desires. But steadfast Evie discovered long ago that wishes rarely come true. A successful life stems from planning, building a stable career—and keeping your heart guarded at all costs.

Now, with her sister home again, Evie’s life can finally return to normal, until the one person she’s been avoiding is suddenly everywhere. Milo Chavis is the only man Evie’s ever wanted with all her heart, her desire for him matched only by the shock that he might want her, too. But if Evie’s learned anything over the years, it’s that you can’t count on people to stick around.

Overwhelmed, Evie retreats to the security she’s worked hard to build, but when a monumental family secret upends her whole world, Evie is forced to follow her heart and trust it will lead her right where she belongs.

Don’t miss On the Sweet Side, the next book in Audrey Carlan's The Wish series! With the emotional pull of Susan Wiggs' and Robyn Carr’s engaging family dramas, On the Sweet Side is a sassy and emotional strangers-to-sisters story about the enduring power of family-both the one you're born with and the one you choose.

The emotions in this book are off the charts! After taking on the caretaker role in her family because her mother constantly traveled and left and she was the older of the two, Evie struggled after her mother passed away and her sister moved away and took on the vagabond life their mother did. Latching onto the stack of letters her mother wrote as she was dying for each birthday, holiday, and milestone in her life, she lives for the advice from her mother any way she can get it. When Evie’s childhood crush Milo takes notice of Evie and decides to go after her and attempt a relationship, she runs the other way as fast as possible. It seems like there is a lot missing that we learn in the previous book about why she initially is reluctant towards Milo’s advances even though she’s been in love with him for a long time, but I think a lot of it stems from her childhood and not fitting in with the culture that she grew up in because she was half Native American and half Caucasian and favored her father’s side in looks. Thankfully, Milo doesn’t back down and also sticks up for Evie, which we find is something he’s done since meeting her in childhood, and we also find out why he didn’t initially go after her when he had all the feelings he does for so long. Personally, I wish that I would’ve gone back and read the first book because I feel it would answer a lot of questions for me, but overall I enjoyed this book and could feel Evie’s feelings, pain and all, through each page. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is the second book in Audrey Carlan’s Wish series. It is a standalone, but reading the first book would add to the story. Evie has always been the caretaker, especially for her sister Suda Kaye. She doesn’t trust easy and when her long time crush, Milo, makes his intentions on making her his known, she once again doesn’t trust it. This series is differ than Audrey’s typical romance. It is more in the women’s fiction, but it definitely still has her heat. I loved this book and watching Milo convince Evie that what they had was real and solid. I also loved watching Evie and her sister work through their relationship. There are also some twists and turns that in the end just makes you smile. This book also focuses on Natvie American culture, which I found added to the story and made it more interesting. Great book.

WOW!!! Is the first thing that came to mind after finishing To Catch A Dream. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. At one point I had to put the book down for 2 full days before I could pick it up again. I felt every single feeling the Evie had because of how this book was so masterfully written. With each new hurdle that is put in front of her you can’t help but want to pull her in the direction of her true love. She deserves every happiness in the world after everything she went through. But you can also understand her hesitance to want to jump in heart first. I have never had a deeper connection to a single character in a book before. I loved every aspect of this book. Thank you for this amazing book and I am beyond excited to see where this series goes. 5 Stars!!!!!

This book makes you experience every emotion you can think of! It is a beautiful story of love, self doubt, sisterhood, discovery and faith. The development of the love story between the main characters is beautiful although at times frustrating (in a good way). I loved seeing Evie develop as a woman and come into her own understanding of self. Another fantastic story by Audrey Carlan!
  • Sensational- this book will own your heart and soul

This story is sensational and will have you wanting to wish on your very own star so all your dreams come true. Evie is such a beautiful soul who puts those she loves before herself. All she needs in life is for someone to love her completely and never leave or let her go. Unfortunately, people have left Evie her whole life, so it has broken her in ways she has to learn and heal from. Until she meets her perfect match in Milo. He is steadfast and wise and never wastes time on words or emotions if he doesn’t mean them. You need to read this book for the bluff, the wishes, the letters, and the reservation alone. This story captivated me from start to finish because I felt Evie was an extension of my heart, as I too put everyone I love before myself. To Catch A Dream has carved out a special place in my heart as it reminds me that when you find your person, they will love you enough to stay!!! Tracey, Life Reads With Friends

What a beautiful story of love, loss, sisterhood, family and a great lesson on Native American culture! When given the chance for love, will Evie open her heart enough to let Milo in or will he eventually leave like everyone else?
  • Savor this story!

Audrey Carlan has, in true Audrey Carlan fashion, skillfully crafted a heartwarming and gut-wrenching tale filled with love, loss, laughs, and sisterhood! “To Catch a Dream” is book two in her latest series, this time following big sister Evie Ross. I chose to savor this story and pace myself because I just didn't want it ever to end! By the last quarter of it, though, I was in a full-force race to the finish - I was in tears, both sad for the characters, experiencing a bit of shock and awe, and happy for them! I hope book three goes in the direction that I think I’d love to explore that particular storyline! Also, let me just say - Milo was on fire! At first, I thought their love story was a bit fast, but as their backstory was revealed, it made perfect sense. Along with their history came some beautiful vocabulary and phrases and a bit of insight into Native American culture. I can appreciate the amount of research that must have gone into this story, as well as the bits and pieces that came from her PA’s personal history. Much love Audrey & Jeananna! I'd recommend this lovely tale to romance fans everywhere. I relish that while the romantic scenes are hot and heavy, they don't detract from the overall story but rather add to it in the sweetest way possible. Audrey Carlan will forever be an auto-buy author for me, and I cannot wait to add the physical copy of this title to my library. If you have not read her work yet, then do yourself a favor and take a leap of faith - you can thank me later! {P.s. Be sure I check out Evie’s sister Suda Kaye’s story in “What the Heart Wants”!} Many thanks to the author, the publishers, and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this ebook. I have honestly and voluntarily reviewed this title.

I don't even know where to begin. I thought that the first book was filled with emotion, but it was nothing compared to this one. I laughed. I cried. I cheered in my head when Evie got everything she ever wished for and realized how much she was truly loved. The love that her and Milo share transcends all things.
