INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

“The beach-read master hooks us again."—People

Named a Most Anticipated Book of 2023 by BuzzFeed ∙ Paste Magazine ∙ Elle Southern Living ∙ SheReads Culturess ∙ Medium ∙ Her Campus Readers Digest ∙ Zibby Mag and more!

A couple who broke up months ago pretend to still be together for their annual weeklong vacation with their best friends in this glittering and wise new novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Henry.

Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.

They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

Which is how they find themselves sharing a bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blissful week they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most.

Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Because the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best?

A really easy, funny, deep in thought moments of a read. Thank you. ❤️
  • A perfect summer read

This is the third book I have read by Emily Henry, and the best one yet. Without sharing too much - yes, it’s a love story like all of her books, but I appreciate how the love story here expands to themes of self love, friendship and the complexity of family. The things that go unspoken - assumptions, expectations and internalizations. I flew through this book, which I only regret because it’s not even summer, so now I’m not sure what I’m going to read on the beach! If you like easy reads that hook you, and maybe give you a bit of the feels, Happy Place is a great selection.

Almost 2 days of my life gone. I could not stop reading and when I did manage to, I was thinking about how quickly I could get back to it.
  • Silly Premise

Book is based on a couple so arrogant that they can’t tell people they broke up? What makes them so special to go to those lengths to keep up a meaningless ruse. Why would anyone care?
  • Disappointing

Compared to her other books this one was boring. Ok but hardly laugh out loud.

I really couldn’t get into this. I wasn’t hooked from the beginning and I had to push myself through it. The story line was just so/so and definitely not a surprise.

I loved this story. The ins and outs and trying to imagine myself in the characters shoes (thinking I’d never be able to deal with that). One of my favorites of hers!
  • Not a fave

Glad the writer hit #1 an doesn’t have to rely on my review. This was hard to get through, boring characters, plot was drivel, struggled to get through to the end. Thank goodness it’s finally over.
