This is what happens to Charity, a sweet innocent sheltered woman, who goes back into a hotel room she had just cleaned to find her locket and hears a meeting with a man named Jake that changes her life. A lot of action ensues, and definitely lots of changes in Charity and Jake

Great story.. Talk about wrong place at the wrong time, well Charity was defiantly that. Charity had so much innocents about her and I almost found it funny how she could not lie to Jake. I bet while she was hiding under that bed she would of never heard the things she heard and find herself in danger. Jake was this sexy hitman. I also found that Jake had so many layers to him. Seems like when you have him figured out, you find out more about him. I found even though Jake was a hitman he who had morals. I know sounds strange but found it very interesting. I love how Jake was falling for Charity. He knew she was innocent and she was worming her way in his heart little by little. The same goes for Charity. Jake was really growing on her. She was having feelings she thought she could not have. Jake does have a reason why he is doing what he is doing but you will have to read the book to find out. I love how Charity tried to understand his reasons. This was a great story and glad I got a chance to read it.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Charity gets caught in a dangerous situation. She's overheard a conversation that was never meant to leave the hotel room. Charity works at a hotel in Pennsylvania as a maid. She grew up sheltered and protected, but now she is in full panic mode. Jake is a contract killer discussing business with a perspective client when he spots Charity hiding in the hotel room. Now, not only is Jake a hitman, apparently he's a kidnapper too. Charity is no match for Jake's size and demeanor. She's an innocent in every way, but make no mistake, she's a smart, capable woman who got caught up in a bad situation. She's trying to deal the best she can. Hoping that by being compliant with her captor, she plots her way to make it out of this predicament alive. Jake has other plans. He has a lot of money riding on this contract. Jake has to deliver. Charity is collateral damage in his line of work. That is, she was, up until he asks her for help. Charity is going through the motions, hoping Jake will set her free when his contract has been fulfilled. Jake, on the other hand, has grown fond of Charity and he has plans of his own. Charity is learning real quick about the real world. She's quickly shedding her shy, unworldly side and becoming strong and brave, more open to what life has to offer. Jake is losing some of his roughness and becoming somewhat protective of Charity. Is it possible for these two to meet somewhere in the middle? You definitely need to read this book to understand how Charity and Jake transform. He knows he doesn't deserve her and she doesn't deserve the life that comes with a man like him.
